Yesterday the President of the International Taekwon-Do Federations (ITF), Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa honoured us with a very special visit to Hohepa Hawkes Bay along with other special ITF guests from Australia.
They are currently on an Asia-Pacific Seminar Tour of Malaysia, Korea, Australia and were in Hawke’s Bay at Irongate School in Flaxmere last night. President Choi Jung Hwa has a particular interest in teaching people who have a disability, so he really wanted to meet some of our Hohepa residents and the Special Needs Taekwon-Do athletes from Hohepa and Hawkes Bay. Ben Evans and Wai Parone led him through basic techniques and care of the Hohepa Taekwon-Do team at this event and his plan was to take this knowledge around the globe – all very exciting to be able to share Hohepa’s success and that of other disabled people in this sport with the rest of the world.
Alfred Busch, Kim Stewart and Wai Parone took them on a tour of Clive where the residents were really pleased to greet them and show them the studios and the work they do.
At a very brief morning tea the President presented Alfred with a pin as an Honorary Life Member of Taekwon-Do.
